Workplace discrimination

When you face hostility at work for being LGBTQ+.

LGBTQ+ people sometimes face hostility at work, from jokes and exclusion to harassment and being forced out.

What it can look like

  • Offensive comments
  • Being outed
  • Being passed over for promotion
  • Being misgendered on purpose
  • Being dismissed

What to do

  • Keep records with dates, details and witnesses
  • Raise it with a manager or HR if safe
  • Talk to a union or employment advice service

Rights

Many countries have laws that protect LGBTQ+ workers. Check where you live.
