When your relationship affects your mental health

Signs it is taking more than it gives.

Relationships affect mental health a great deal, for better and worse.

Signs a relationship may be harming your wellbeing

  • You feel anxious before they come home
  • You have lost confidence you used to have
  • You have stopped doing things you enjoyed
  • You often feel confused about what is real
  • Friends say you seem different

What to do

  • Talk to someone outside the relationship
  • Notice whether things improve when you spend time apart
  • Consider counselling, alone or together
  • If there is fear or control, speak to a domestic abuse service

You deserve a relationship that leaves room for you to be well.
