Burnout

When you are running on empty and cannot recover.

Burnout is a state of exhaustion from long term stress, often from work or caring.

Signs

  • Constant tiredness that sleep does not fix
  • Feeling cynical or detached
  • Getting less done
  • Dreading every day
  • Getting ill more often

What helps

  • Rest that is real rest, not just stopping work to scroll
  • Cutting back where you can, even a little
  • Saying no to new commitments
  • Talking to your manager or a doctor
  • Reconnecting with things that give you energy

When to get help

If burnout is turning into depression or you feel you cannot go on, see a doctor.
