When the death was by suicide
A loss that brings its own questions. Some things that are true.
Losing someone to suicide brings grief and often shock, confusion, guilt and anger all at once.
Things that are true
- It is not your fault
- You could not have known everything they were carrying
- Many people who die by suicide hide their pain from those closest to them
- Feeling angry with them is normal, and does not mean you did not love them
Questions that may not have answers
Why did they do it? Why did they not tell me? What if I had called? These questions are natural. Some may never be fully answered. That is one of the cruellest parts of this loss.
