Planning for housing in a crisis

Thinking ahead about where you could go.

If your home situation feels unstable, whether because of abuse, money problems or a relationship ending, a little planning can make a crisis easier.

Make a list

  • Two or three people you could stay with
  • Local housing authority contact details
  • Domestic abuse service details if relevant
  • The crisis lines for your country

Prepare a bag

  • ID and important documents, or copies
  • Medication
  • Phone charger
  • Some money
  • Clothes for a few days

Know your options

Find out now what emergency housing exists where you live. It is easier to learn when you are not in crisis.
