Fathers and housing after separation
Finding a home where children can stay.
After separation, many fathers move into small or temporary places. That can make it hard to have children stay.
What to do
- Tell housing services that you share care of children, with evidence
- Ask how they assess needs for children who stay part of the week
- Explore family members' homes for overnight stays while you look
Making it work for children
- A space for them, even if small
- Familiar things: a blanket, toys, photos
- Routines that match home where possible
