Eating problems in men

Disordered eating is not only a women's issue.

Eating disorders affect men too, though they are often missed.

Signs

  • Obsession with weight, muscles or body shape
  • Strict dieting or over exercising
  • Bingeing
  • Using supplements or steroids excessively
  • Feeling guilty or anxious around food

Why men miss it

Eating disorders are often seen as a women's problem. Men may describe it as being disciplined or healthy.

Help

Eating disorders are serious but treatable. Talk to a doctor. Specialist services exist in many countries.
