You do not have to tell the whole story to get help
Getting support does not require reliving what happened. What you can say instead.
Many people avoid help because they think they will have to describe everything. You do not.
What good services understand
A trained person will not need every detail to help you. Many will tell you not to go into it until you feel ready. Some never need to hear it at all.
What you can say instead
- "Something happened a while ago and it is still affecting me."
- "I do not want to talk about the details yet."
- "I am struggling with sleep and anger, and I think it is connected to something in my past."
- "I need help, but I need to go slowly."
Any of these is enough to begin.
If someone pushes
You can say no. You can say, "I am not ready for that." If a service keeps pressing for details you do not want to give, it is fine to look for another one.
At Griefyard Works, Request Support never asks you to describe what happened. You can tell us what would help instead.
