What to do right after an incident
If you have just been hurt or threatened.
If you have just been hurt or threatened at home, your safety is the first priority.
Right now
- If you are in danger, call the emergency number for your country
- Get to a safe place if you can: a neighbour, a shop, a friend
- If you are injured, get medical help
When you can
- Write down what happened, with dates and times
- Take photos of injuries or damage
- Keep messages, voicemails and emails
- Tell someone you trust
Getting support
A domestic abuse helpline can talk you through your options, including legal protection, where to stay, and what happens if you report.
