Gender dysphoria explained
What it means and how people find relief.
Gender dysphoria is the distress some people feel when their gender identity does not match the sex they were assigned at birth.
What it can feel like
- Discomfort with your body
- Distress when called by the wrong name or pronouns
- Feeling disconnected
What can help
- Social changes: name, pronouns, clothes
- Medical support, if right for you
- Community and affirming people
Not every trans person experiences dysphoria the same way. Support should fit you.
